Introduction to Kinesiology Taping

Kinesiology means ‘The study of motion’

Kinesiology Taping is designed to enable, support and improve movement.

The tape is a finely woven fabric tape with elastic fibres that stretch longitudinally only.

Kinesiology Tape lifts the hair, skin and underlying fascia allowing better function of the systems beneath.

Application of the tape also stimulates the nervous system and can be really useful to use for proprioceptive effects and muscle activation and stimulation.

Application

Application varies from case to case depending on where your horse’s weaknesses or asymmetries may be, or where Jess feels your horse may benefit from the application of tape.

Jess uses an Equine specific Veterinary tape that is hypoallergenic and should not cause your horse to have any reaction. However you will be required to consent to application of the tape.

The tape is water resistant and it is also safe to ride / exercise your horse with the tape on.

Jess recommends that once tape has been applied it is left on the horse for as long as possible for them to receive the maximum benefits for the longest period of time

Please note Kinesiology Tape is not competition legal so any tape applied will need to be removed before you compete your horse.
